Erich-Fromm-Prize 2024 to Prof. Dr. Bernhard P\u00f6rksen<\/strong><\/h3>\non Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Hospitalhof Education Center in Stuttgart<\/strong>\n\n\"\"\n\nThe Erich Fromm Prize will be awarded in 2024 to the T\u00fcbingen media scientist Prof. Dr. Bernhard P\u00f6rksen.\n\nIt will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, the 124th day of the year. Erich Fromm’s birthday, in a matinee event at 11 a.m. at the Hospitalhof Education Center in Stuttgart. The laudatory speech will be held by publicist K\u00fcbra G\u00fcm\u00fc\u015fay.\n\nFor the five-member jury, Bernhard P\u00f6rksen’s scientific and public work fulfills the intentions of the humanist social psychologist Erich Fromm to a high degree, who was aware of the importance of a qualitatively high level of information as “a decisive prerequisite for the formation of a genuine democracy” (Haben oder Sein). P\u00f6rksen’s concepts for promoting media literacy and his call for “editorial competence” for all, in which “the reflective handling of information becomes an element of general education”, is a vision in the spirit of Erich Fromm and his concern for humanity, freedom and democracy. Background<\/h4>\nThe Erich Fromm Prize, endowed with \u20ac10,000, has been awarded annually by the International Erich Fromm Society since 2006.
