Through her impressive social commitment, the internationally acclaimed artist supports people who live in the shadows of society and enables them to live in dignity. She not only wants to make an impact through her music, but also to help children, the elderly and the disabled. It uses concert proceeds and its own funds to finance orphanages in Romania and Latvia as well as facilities for the disabled in Wehr-Öflingen and Freiburg. Anne-Sophie Mutter supported organizations such as “Save the Children” and “SOS Children’s Villages”. She campaigned for AIDS aid, for earthquake victims in Sichuan and against the use of landmines.

Anne-Sophie Mutter also sees music as a force for forging relationships between people and raising awareness of social emergencies. Her love of music is combined with a love of people who need support and help. Through regular benefit concerts, the work of her “Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation” and the “Friends of the Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation e.V.”, she not only provides funds for pioneering international projects to support talented young string players, but also plays a part in them as an artist and mentor.
The International Erich Fromm Society, based in Tübingen, honors Fromm’s work for the weakest members of society, which is largely unknown to the public, as an expression of humanistic thought and action, which the psychoanalyst and social philosopher Erich Fromm (1900-1980) advocated throughout his life.
