Eugen Drewermann and Konstantin Wecker

The International Erich Fromm Society is awarding the Erich Fromm Prize 2007, endowed with 10,000 euros, jointly to Dr. Eugen Drewermann and Konstantin Wecker. The award ceremony co-hosted by the “Hospitalhof” education center

took place on Thursday, March 29, 2007, starting at 6 p.m. in the Mozart Hall of the Stuttgart Liederhalle concert hall.

Here is the wording of the award justification:
Their personal and joint public advocacy for the preservation of peace and against religiously disguised militancy, their fearless stand against anti-Semitism and xenophobia, their commitment to a humane and ecological future for humanity and against a practice that sees people only as commodities, cost factors or consumers, is an outstanding and exemplary commitment to the love of life and living things in the sense of Erich Fromm.

Dr. Drewermann will give the “Erich-Fromm-Lecture 2007” on the peace policy situation and Konstantin Wecker will provide the musical framework with committed songs.
